Going to Work

Every day I get up and look through
the Forbes list of the richest people in America.
If I'm not there, I go to work.

A quote from one of my spam emails -- very encouraging indeed!!!

I Nearly Broke My Back

I just received Joel's school online newsletter this morning and am surprised to see this picture on the cover. I'm so proud of him that I need to show him off. I'm already dreaming that he will one day be on 8 Days magazine or even GQ... hehe. However, he looked so uncomfortable among gals.

Coincidentally last night, I asked him if he had any girl friends at school -- not the special kind of 'girlfriend' -- but friends who are girls? He looked at me as if the mum here is questioning him about her future daughter-in-law.

Anyway, his answer to me was, "I don't like girls. I like boys. I like to play with boys only."

Not only did I felt that my heart dropped and as I bent down to pick it up, I think I nearly broke my back and even felt the mountain trembled a little (ok, not the Canadian mountains, but Redhill lah). I think I read too much into it liao.

CNY Celebrations at Joel's New School

Just change Joel to a new school, Little Skool House at the beginning of this year. Bryan is also in the after-school-care there.

It has been a very trying period last year, as we have to shuttle between 2 childcare centres, every evening to fetch the kids. The kids used to go to the childcare centre at my work place together every morning. However, with Bryan moving on to Primary 1 and also with me shifting to the new campus at Bukit Timah, Joel was not coping well with travelling to school alone all of a sudden. I thought perhaps a change of environment might be good for him, as he was dragging himself to school each day.

Sometimes, I really felt guilty for having sent him to the childcare at an early age of 18 months. I guessed there is not much of a choice, and this is really the best alternative for our family. Hopefully, he will understand that. He may not know, but I can see that during the last 2 years, he was transformed from a cry baby to a more responsible toddler.

Constipated

Have you heard of this song before? Gavin and I really catch no ball of what Joel is singing. Don't know whether is it a Chinese or a Hokkien song. Hear it for yourself.

猪和lù(你)dán(等)(到) Aunty和山猪 谁是放sài(使) 粒粒真辛苦

Here’s my English interpretation (direct translation) of his "CONSTIPATED" song: Pig and you finally waited for the presence of Aunty and the wild boar To see whose shit is most stink Every motion (of shit) is so painful.
